Virtual tour

12 November 2021

During the spring and summer seasons, the partner in the SMART project “independent L.” cooperative created the virtual tours for the four pilot sites involved, i.e. the Peter Mitterhofer Typewriter Museum, the Schloss Ritzen Museum, the Val Resia Ecomuseum and the MUMAT Museum of Textile Machinery.

These tours are designed to ensure that everyone will have the opportunity to visit museums in rural areas, enhancing their cultural and environmental heritage, increasing the degree of accessibility and, therefore, increasing the attractiveness for tourists. More than just a collection of photographs, the stereographic 3D footage makes for an experience as intact as possible, allowing visitors to access these museums remotely, overcoming physical, geographical, architectural barriers and helping to ensure their economic sustainability.
Despite the pandemic, thanks to the concerted effort between the Independent L. staff and the pilot sites, filming for the development of the virtual tours was successfully completed. Initially, the four pilot museums selected the most representative museum content; then its filming and translation was done by independent L. staff while the museums prepared the content.

The Peter Mitterhofer Museum of Writing Machinery will also have accessible content for people with hearing disabilities, its content having also been translated into Italian and German sign language.

The virtual tours will be finalized in October 2021 and the operators of the four SMART museums will be trained in the use and functions of the virtual platform. Finally, the virtual tours will be presented to the public in early 2022. Don't miss the launch!
